FG Probes Industrial Accident At Steel Plant Ogijo, Ogun State

*Commiserates With Families Of Victims 




Towards unravelling the immediate and remote causes of an Industrial Accident at a Steel Plant in Ogijo, Ogun State, the Federal Government through the Ministry of Steel Development is conducting investigation on the incident. 

While the investigation will help to prevent reoccurrence, the Ministry also commiserate with the families of those that lost their lives and injured victims. 

The Press Release issued on Wednesday and signed by the Honourable Minister, Ministry of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, also assured that the Ministry will continue to create enabling environment for the development of the Steel Industry in Nigeria. 

It reads "Our attention has been drawn to the recent unfortunate incidence of an Industrial Accident that happened in a Steel Plant within Ogijo Area of Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State on Sunday 2nd March, 2025.

"The Ministry of Steel Development wishes to commiserate with the Families of the affected persons who may have either lost loved ones or suffered injuries from that accident and particularly Sagamu Local Government and Ogun State Government at this difficult time.

"The Ministry is currently putting in place effective modalities to ensure sanitization of the steel industry in Nigeria and shall immediately conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the incident and take necessary steps to ensure that this unfortunate incident does not re-occur.

"While soliciting the cooperation of all Stakeholders to join hands in mitigating any further unfortunate industrial accidents in the steel industry, we will continue to create enabling environment for the development of the Steel Industry in Nigeria to catalyze the industrial development of the Nation." it stated
