Explosion In Kano Leaves 5 Persons Dead, 15 Hospitalized

An early morning explosion in Kano State on Saturday has resulted in the death of five persons while while not less 15 others sustained various degrees of injuries. 

 The explosion had rocked a mechanic workshop area in Kano.

The blast is suspected to have been triggered by a military mortar bomb. 

Police Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who visited the site, said the explosive may have been part of a shipment traced to Yobe State.

Emergency workers moved the injured to nearby hospitals. 

As of the time of reporting, authorities have not confirmed who was responsible for moving or owning the device.

Bakori called on residents to stay calm while investigations continue into the cause and source of the explosion.
