Super Eagles Pocket $2.5m For Reaching AFCON 2023 Semi-Finals

For their exploit at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have so far earned $2.5m from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as prize money for reaching the semi-final of the competition.

CAF had announced a 40% increase in the prize monies for the AFCON prior to the start of the competition.

The sum received so far from CAF is outside the bonus and allowances the NFF pay the players as they progress in the tournament.

Further breakdown of the prize monies for the tournament showed that the winners of the AFCON will pocket $7m, while the beaten finalists earn $4m

Quarter-finalists will receive $1.3m each, while Round of 16 qualifiers get $800,000 a team.

The Super Eagles had received $1.5m when they won a third AFCON title in South Africa in 2013.
