*As CP Gumel Commends Good People Of The State, Security Agencies
For fermenting trouble and thuggery in Kano state on the second Sallah day, security agencies in the state have arrested additional 61 suspects.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer,SP Abdullahi Kiyawa.
According to him, the suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons and illicit drugs across the five emirates of the State.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, the statement said, has commended the combined efforts of the inter agencies security teams for keeping the State safe during the festivity.
It reads "Worthy of mention are the Military, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Kano State Hisbah Board, members of Vigilante Group of Nigeria and other civil volunteer teams among others.
"The dedication and sacrifices to duty by the officers and men that led to peaceful Hawan Daushe Durbar Celebrations at all the Emirates of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Karaye and Gaya are highly commendable.
"During the just concluded Hawan Daushe Durbar that took place at the five Emirates, a total of sixty-one (61) suspected thugs were arrested with dangerous weapons and illicit drugs that wanted to take advantage of the festive period to cause breakdown of law and order and to embark on attacks on innocent citizens."
The statement said all the suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be charged to court upon completion.
It added "The Police Command is happy with the clear cooperation of the good people of the state for working together towards preventing whoever and under whatever guise attempts to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the State by taking the advantage of the ongoing Sallah festive period.
