The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday temporarily suspended the nationwide strike for one week.
This followed the new agreement signed by the Organised Labour and the Federal Government on Monday night.
The parties agreed to the continuation of negotiations on the minimum wage for the next one week as the Federal Government was ready to now pay above N60,000 as minimum wage.
The strike suspension was announced to remove any obstruction to negotiations of the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage in the next one week.
The Tripartite Committee is scheduled to meet daily in the next one week in order to reach an agreeable national minimum wage.
The suspension of the strike was officially declared on Tuesday at a meeting with the Federal Government’s Tripartite Committee, which commenced at 10 am.
The latest development means that all government and private sector offices are to resume normal operations immediately.
