The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finally engaged a German coach, Bruno Labbadia, as the new Super Eagles head coach.
The announcement was made in the early hours of Tuesday via the social media handle of the The Nigeria Football Federation.
It reads "German, Bruno Labbadia, becomes 37th Head Coach of the @NGSuperEagles The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles,"
The NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect.”
Nigerians have waited many weeks and clamoured for a new coach since the resignation of coach Finidi George.
Bruno Labbadia is now to lead the team through the FIFA 2026 and CAF 2025 qualifiers.
To this end, his first assignment will be to lead the Super Eagles out on Saturday 7th of September, 2024 for the match day one clash with Benin Republic of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
