Global Campaign Embarks On 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2024

To protect women and girl child, an international campaign is embarking on a 16 days activism against gender based violence.

Noting that a woman is killed in every 10 minutes globally, it sought for a united action against such evil act.

It said "The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual global campaign running from November 25 *(International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women)* to December 10 *(Human Rights Day)*.

"The 2024 theme, *“Every 10 Minutes, a Woman is Killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence Against Women,”* highlights the devastating reality of violence faced by women and girls worldwide and calls for urgent action to end it."

Violence against women, it noted, is a human rights violation affecting "one in three women globally, with devastating consequences for individuals, families, and societies."

This year’s theme, it said, underlines the alarming statistic that every 10 minutes, a woman loses her life due to violence, reinforcing the need for collective efforts to combat this crisis.

"Goals of the 2024 Campaign:
1. *Raise Awareness*: Educate communities about the prevalence and impact of violence against women.

"2. *Advocate for Change*: Push for stronger laws, policies, and resources to protect women and ensure accountability for perpetrators.

"3. *Inspire Action*: Mobilize individuals, organizations, and governments to take meaningful steps toward ending gender-based violence.

"How You Can Participate:
- *Educate Yourself and Others*: Share statistics, stories, and resources on social media using the hashtags *#NoExcuse* and *#UNiTE*.

"*Support Survivors*: Volunteer, donate, or partner with local organizations working to assist victims of violence.

"*Advocate for Justice*: Call for improved legal frameworks and policies to prevent violence and support survivors.

"*Engage Men and Boys*: Encourage men to become allies by challenging harmful behaviors and stereotypes.

"*Host or Attend Events*: Join marches, workshops, or online campaigns promoting gender equality and safety."

It added "The 16 Days of Activism 2024 reminds us that violence against women is preventable, and everyone has a role to play. By uniting as individuals, communities, and nations, we can create a safer, more equitable world where no woman loses her life to violence.

"*Let’s act now—there’s #NoExcuse.*
