The Federal Republic of Nigeria has expressed sincere condolences to the government and people of Guinea following the tragic loss of life in the recent stampede during a football match in the city of N’Zerekore.
The stampede, which was reportedly caused by protests of dissatisfaction with refereeing decisions and stone-throwing by supporters, had resulted in the death of 56 persons.
A statement by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, said "Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this dreadful event."
