To boost confidence, independence, and inclusive society, a non-governmental organization, Fabulous Minds Women Initiative (FMWI), has organized a transformative two-day workshop for teenagers.
The theme of the workshop by the group dedicated to empowering women and girls, was “Speak, Shine, and Succeed”
It was designed to equip participants with essential life skills and public speaking mastery.
Besides communication, the teens also learned practical entrepreneurship skills, including liquid soap making, cake baking, puff-puff, and doughnut preparation, interactive, relatable learning.
The workshop was structured in teen-friendly modules to enhance both learning and practice.
Interactive sessions were delivered by the facilitators—Mrs. Theodora Obayojie, a Communication Specialist and Family Therapist; Mrs. Romoke Omosehin, an Educational Consultant; and Mrs. Betty Bello, a Financial Executive.
They aimed to build confidence, explored the link between self-worth and self-esteem, and taught daily habits for personal growth and voice mastery.
On life skills, Mrs. Eguono Okiti, Business Executive and CEO, and Mrs Rita Chikaodili Nwaneri, Caterer and Director of La Ritz Cakes and Events, took participants through soap and pastry-making.
The teens also received hands-on training, from safety precautions to preparation techniques and even product branding.
The sessions left a deep impression and transformation as one SS2 girl who initially broke down in tears due to stage fright later stood boldly to express herself after practicing the tips shared.
Her emotional testimony reflected the life-changing impact of the program:
“Thank you to Fabulous Minds NGO that organized this Speak, Shine, and Succeed event. Yesterday, I couldn’t stand before my mates; I embarrassed myself with tears.
"But I went home and practiced the self-confidence tips I was given. Today, I can now stand and express myself.”
Many participants echoed similar joy and enthusiasm, asking curiously, “When is the next workshop?”
The President of FMWI, Mrs. Betty Agunobi, described the workshop as a reaffirmation of the NGO’s mission:

Key Highlights of the Workshop
Public Speaking: Teens learned how to overcome stage fright, communicate effectively, and speak with confidence.
Life Skills Training: Practical sessions in soap making and pastries gave participants entrepreneurial exposure.
Empowerment through Education: FMWI continues to equip young women with tools to thrive personally, academically, and professionally.
This program follows FMWI’s earlier collaboration with the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) in March, where a roundtable dialogue focused on creative strategies for strengthening family unity and social cohesion was discussed .
The ‘Speak, Shine, and Succeed’ Workshop is yet another demonstration of FMWI’s unwavering commitment to transforming lives through strategic, human-centred programs.
