The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund,(NSITF), Barrister Olúwaṣeun Faleye, has been honoured with the Corporate Health and Safety Environment (HSE) Leadership Award.
The Award, in recognition of the NSITF MD’s unwavering support of Health, Safety and Environment initiatives across Nigerian workplaces, was presented by the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) during the Abuja Safety Summit held at the Yar'Adua Centre, Abuja on Wednesday.
The occasion was witnessed by numerous stakeholders in the field of workplace safety including the National President ISPON, Chief (Dr) Stephen Udeze and the Institute's Registrar. Others are: the Director of Administration, Julius Berger Nigeria, Dr. Abdulaziz Isa Laiya and the Director of Safety Nigerian Navy; General Manager HSE of NSITF, Anthony Eke and the Fund's Head of APRD, Engr. (Dr) Nasiru Aminu.
At the Award, Chairman of the Abuja Chapter of ISPON, Mrs. Ifeoma Okpara, commended Barrister Faleye for his visionary leadership and open endorsement of HSE programmes as key drivers of productivity describing him as "the most supportive Managing Director."
The Managing Director, who was represented by his Technical Adviser and General Manager, Managing Director's office, Dr. Dayo Alao, expressed delight over the award.
He said it "serves as motivation to do more" as he reiterated continual support for and commitment to promotion of workplace safety and health in Nigeria.
Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye has breathed new life into NSITF in just a year in office, of particular interest is his reinvention of the workplace safety and health promotion, a long neglected mandate of the Fund having far-reaching impacts for workers' welfare, national productivity and development.
He not only personally took up the campaign, but further leads by example ensuring the Fund itself adheres to international standards. He recently procured vital health equipment, to including first aid kits, blood pressure monitors, body massagers and blood sugar monitors, for the use of NSITF's staff nationwide.
