Former Nigerian Judo International and Chairman of the Ogun state Judo Association, Hon Omoba Segun Gbayi, has described the latest attack of the National Sports Commission, NSC, by the former President of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr Oshodi Musa has an act of mischief and blackmail that is death on arrival.
Gbayi said Oshodi's latest makaba dance in the media is a sign of a man who knows he has lost any remaining relevance to cling on to power but determined to bring down the entire system to see if he can get any attention.
" I want to use this medium to painstakingly give Nigerians the entire background to why people like Dr Oshodi Musa cannot misled the Public and the International Judo family with baseless, cheap and unfounding blackmail of the National Sports Commission and the Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade because we must ultimately protect and safeguard the integrity of Judo in Nigeria".
" Dr. Oshodi Musa, in a desperate attempt to hold on to power, unilaterally conducted an election and swore in new board members, before the expiration of the former board's tenure. This premature and preposterous act is a clear violation of established guidelines and protocols, which demonstrates a blatant disregard for the democratic processes that should govern the federation".
" But earlier the National Sports Commission,NSC, in a gesture of goodwill had offered Dr. Oshodi a chance to rectify the issues concerning the self-authored constitution, he however rejected this opportunity by bypassing the directives of the NSC, and proceeded to conduct the elections with the disputed constitution, disregarding and rebuffing the offer of reconciliation intended to bring all stakeholders to a peaceful resolution and correct whatever abberation that existed abinitio in the constitution. This led to a
consequent intervention by the NSC".
" The purported election was conducted based on a self-written constitution by Dr. Musa, without the inputs and approval of the congress of Judo stakeholders in Nigeria. This act is a clear attempt to manipulate the system and forcefully perpetuate himself (Dr. Oshodi) in power by excluding critical constituencies, such as the NAWIS, NAPHER-SD, MILITARY/PARAMILITARY, AFFAN, SPONSORS REP, and INTERNATIONAL REP from the board, which implied that, the election was designed to serve his personal interests rather than the collective good of Nigeria Judo Community".
" In addition, the urgency with which Dr. Musa conducted the September 11th, 2025 election, against the widespread objections of Judo stakeholders, raises serious concerns, which made the Judo stakeholders believe that, his actions are driven by a desire to maintain power by every means possible and continue his illegal activities, such as visa racketeering, as he has already brought the Federation into disrepute and embarrassment both locally and internationally through this singular act".
" it is also my believe that, Dr. Musa's appeal for intervention from the Presidency and his subsequent attempts to undermine the reputation of the Director-General of the NSC is a vivid evidence of his desperation to remain in power or else I will destroy everything".
" I want to maintain that the leadership of the NSC should rather be praised for their timely intervention rather than being criticised because if not for them the Nigeria judo federation would have been thrown into serious chaos and anarchy following numerous protests and petitions from Judo stakeholders", Hon. Gbayi added.
