*Hails President Tinubu For Unprecedented Infrastructural Devt
The Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr David Umahi, on Wednesday replied critics, declaring that no amount of gang up will stop infrastructural development going on through his ministry.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for the unprecedented support to infrastructural development in the country.
Senator Umahi spoke at his office in Abuja when Sports men and women in the Ministry ambushed him and held a surprise ceremony in his honour and formally present trophy and medal won during the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA), tagged “Adamawa 2025.”
He said "He's doing roads that are not federal roads and so when people are angry and attacking council without knowledge, they don't know they are promoting me.
"Attacking on social media because of politics, I do not care. You can see me smiling. You can see me moving forward. No amount of gangup that will stop the innovation in the Federal Ministry of Works." he stated
On support from President Tinubu, Senator Umahi said "The support that the President is giving to us is unprecedented. He's a man that understands the strength of infrastructure for the development of any nation.
"When we came on board in 2023, social media everywhere, people were complaining, complaining about bad roads, bridges that got spoilt. But one thing I asked, all those people complaining, they started complaining because they saw a man of infrastructure, the President on board.
"If the complains we received in 2023 were received before 2023, there is no way our roads and bridges would have been the way we inherited them.
"So I want to thank him very seriously, and I thank him because he's quite a very unique boss, he's a man that has never interfered with the affairs of the Ministry of Works. He has never asked us to give contract to anybody, has never asked us to give this price.
"So when people.... Council without knowledge, I pity them. I say, hold me responsible, and confront me anyway, so that we can dissect the unit cost of any of the elements of construction." he stated
The Minister also pointed out that those complaining on the social media are complaining about roads that are not Federal roads.
According to him, every Nigerian believes that President Tinubu should construct all the roads in Nigeria, adding "And he's doing that, he is doing roads that are not Federal roads."
Senator Umahi congratulated the sports men and women for making the Ministry proud.
He, in turn, dedicated the trophy to President Bola Tinubu
Speaking at the brief ceremony, the Permanent Secretary in Ministry, Adeladan Rafiu-Olarinre commended the Minister for supporting and creating enabling environment that allowed the sports men and women to excel at the Public Service Games “Adamawa 2025.”
The outcomes, he said, were result of the deliberate investment in sports development, encouragement, teamwork, and consistent motivation from the minister.
