The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, on Monday, 15th June, 2026, received in audience a delegation from Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Adeleye Falade, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.
The meeting, according to a statement by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria, underscored the strategic importance of NLNG to Nigeria's economic diplomacy agenda and highlighted the critical role of the energy sector in advancing the country's foreign policy objectives, attracting investment, strengthening international partnerships, and enhancing Nigeria's global economic profile.
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs commended NLNG for its remarkable achievements and its contributions to Nigeria's economic development and international standing.
She described the company as a strategic national asset whose success reflects the capacity of Nigerian institutions and professionals to compete effectively on the global stage.
The Honourable Minister noted that NLNG's operations align closely with the Federal Government's economic diplomacy objectives, particularly in the areas of energy security, investment promotion, trade expansion, industrial development, and sustainable economic growth.
She further acknowledged the significance of the Train 7 project and expressed confidence that its successful completion would contribute substantially to Nigeria's economic transformation agenda and strengthen the country's role in the global energy market.
The Minister also welcomed closer collaboration between the Ministry and NLNG in promoting Nigeria's economic interests internationally, attracting strategic investments, and showcasing the country's vast opportunities in the energy sector.
Speaking during the engagement, the Managing Director, Engineer Adeleye Falade, congratulated the Honourable Minister on her appointment and commended the Ministry's efforts in advancing Nigeria's interests globally.
Engineer Falade emphasized that NLNG has, over the years, maintained international standards of excellence and has become one of the most successful energy companies on the African continent.
He disclosed that the company continues to make substantial contributions to the Nigerian economy through taxes, dividends, levies, employment generation, and local content development.
The NLNG Chief Executive further highlighted the company's ongoing Train 7 expansion project, which is expected to increase production capacity from approximately 22 million tonnes per annum to about 30 million tonnes per annum upon completion.
He noted that the expansion would generate additional revenue for the Federal Government, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Nigeria's position as a leading global supplier of liquefied natural gas.
According to him, NLNG currently supports thousands of direct and indirect jobs and remains committed to promoting sustainable economic growth, industrial development, and capacity building for Nigerians.
He also reiterated the company's commitment to projecting a positive image of Nigeria internationally through excellence, professionalism, and adherence to global best practices.
