The Federal Government through the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa'idu Ahmad, has officially released the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results for admission into Federal Unity Colleges in the country.
Releasing the various statistics of the results in Abuja on Thursday, she directed the Senior Secondary Education Department to ensure all admission processes are concluded timely and in line with the laid down criteria.
Prof Ahmad said "It is with immense gratitude to God that we are here witnessing the formal release of the result of the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination. The National Common Entrance Examination is for admission of qualified candidates into Junior Secondary School One, JSS 1 of Federal Unity Colleges.
"It is highly competitive examination, which is administered every year to Nigerian children, both at home and abroad, who desire to gain admission into the 83 Federal Unity colleges spread across all parts of the country. These continue to strengthen our unity as a country."
Noting that this year's edition of the examination was written on Saturday 6 June 2026 in Nigeria, Benin Republic and Togo, she said "Major highlights of the NCEE results are as follows: 60,357 candidates registered for the 2026 NCEE. 56,950 candidates sat for the examination, while 3407 were absent.
"Out of the maximum obtainable score of 210, ten candidates obtained the highest score of 202, while 82 candidates obtain the lowest score of one."
Prof Ahmad went on "The highlights for the Federal Government Academy Suleja examinations are 2,071 candidates registered for the examination, 1,876 candidates sat for the examination, while 195 candidates were absent.
"The highest score is 187, that is 89.05 percent, out of the maximum obtainable score of 210, while the lowest is four."
She thanked the National Education Council for its hard work and ensuring that the examination was successful.
On the next step, the Minister said "Now that the results have been released, the senior secondary education department should ensure that all admission processes are concluded timely and in line with the above criteria.
Stressing that the Federal Unity colleges have become the first point of call for most parents in Nigeria, the Minister assured all Nigerian parents that government will continue to do its best to improve on infrastructural development, feeding, and teacher quality for effective teaching and learning in the colleges.
Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, appreciated the ministers of the Federal Ministry of Education and the Permanent Secretary for their support to NECO which ensured smooth conduct of the examinations
He also thanked other ministry staff for their supports and the media for their balanced reportage of the activities of NECO.
