President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will send a high-powered delegation led by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to the first-ever Nigeria Diaspora Investment and Economic Conference, NIDEC, holding in Toronto, Canada.
The announcement was made on Thursday, August 6, 2026, by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, in a statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head, Media, Public Relations and Protocols.
The Conference, themed “INVEST NIGERIA, THRIVE ABROAD”, is scheduled to hold from August 12th to 15th, 2026, in Toronto.
According to NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the delegation showcases the President’s commitment to promoting trade, investment and economic cooperation between Nigeria and Canada.
"This Conference is designed not only as a high-level outcome driven investment platform but will also serve as a shared commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral economic relations."
The Nigerian delegation includes:
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu
Minister of Trade & Investment: Dr. Jumoke Oduwole
Minister of Interior: Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
Governors: Prof. Charles Soludo (Anambra), Prof. Babagana Zulum (Borno), Sen. Uba Sani (Kaduna), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara)
Others: Sen. Ita Enang, Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, representatives of Nigeria Customs Service, NIS, NRS, CBN, ES of NIPC Aisha Rimi, ED of NEPC Nonye Ayeni, and DG of NITDA Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi
Canada’s delegation will include Hon. Shafqat Ali, President of the Treasury Board of Canada; Hon. Graham McGregor, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism; Hon. Deepak Anand, MPP Mississauga-Malton; Mayor Patrick Brown of Brampton; and Hon. Charmaine Williams, Ontario Minister of Women and Economic Opportunities, among others.
The Conference is organised by NiDCOM in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, and major national and international stakeholders.
NiDCOM stated that NIDEC will serve as a definitive bridge connecting global leaders to “investment Ready” opportunities back home, with focus on high impact sectors that are the engines of Nigeria’s future growth and development.
