Army Rescues 12 Civilians In Zamfara, Foils 2 Abduction Attempts In Kaura Namoda, Tsafe

Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 12 civilians and thwarted two separate abduction attempts during operations in Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas on Sunday, 7 September 2026.

This was disclosed in a statement by Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

Rescue at Tsohon Tasha, Kaura Namoda
In the first incident, troops responded to a distress call after terrorists infiltrated a residence at Tsohon Tasha, Kaura Namoda LGA.

Troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon 6 abducted civilians and flee across a nearby river.

The rescued victims were evacuated and reunited with their families.

In a separate incident along the Main Supply Route in Tsafe LGA, troops monitoring activities at Kwanoni Village observed terrorists attempting to intercept a Sharon vehicle.

Troops swiftly mobilised to the location and engaged the attackers, forcing them to abort the attempt and withdraw into the adjoining bush. 6 civilians were subsequently rescued.

The military said the operations demonstrate the “unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to secure lives and property of the citizenry while disrupting terrorist activities and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.”

Operation FANSAN YAMMA urged the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to enable the Theatre to eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
