The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, has urged staff of Commission to go extra mile in serving stakeholders, saying service is central to mandate of regulator.
Maida spoke at NCC head office in Abuja in commemoration of 2026 Customer Service Week themed "Going the Extra Mile."
He said week provides opportunity to appreciate people behind excellent service and reflect on how to serve stakeholders better.
"At NCC, service is central to our mandate. Every policy we formulate, every decision we make, and every regulatory intervention we undertake should ultimately improve experience of people we serve and support development of Nigeria's communications sector," Maida said.
He explained theme has practical meaning in daily work – listening carefully, responding promptly, explaining decisions clearly and following through on commitments.

"Sometimes, it is as simple as helping someone understand next step, providing update before they have to ask, or taking responsibility for issue until it reaches right person and is addressed," he said.
Maida noted in increasingly digital environment, people expect services that are efficient, transparent and responsive, adding technology and systems help meet expectations but judgment, empathy and professionalism give services value.
"Behind every inquiry or complaint is someone who needs answer, solution or reassurance that their concern is being taken seriously," he said.
He thanked staff for daily work, whether responding to consumer complaints, engaging licensees, supporting regulatory processes, managing communications or providing internal services, saying much work happens quietly but impact felt across Commission and by stakeholders.
He said internal service deserves particular attention, as quality of service provided to one another affects quality delivered to public.

"When we share information promptly, respond to colleagues and work effectively across departments, we help whole Commission perform better," he stated.
Maida acknowledged consumers, industry partners and other stakeholders, saying their feedback helps Commission understand where doing well and where to improve, urging willingness to listen, learn and act.
He encouraged staff to identify something to improve in daily work – response that takes too long, process causing unnecessary difficulty, or recurring complaint whose underlying cause needs attention.
"Let us continue to treat every stakeholder with courtesy and respect, uphold highest standards of integrity, and take ownership of responsibilities. These everyday actions build trust in Commission and strengthen confidence in our work," he said, urging staff to carry spirit of "Going the Extra Mile" throughout year.
