*Describes Her As Dedicated Leader, Women Empowerment Champion
In a sad mood, the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria has announced the demise of its National President, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau.
The Council said she died on the 4th of June, 2024 in Kebbi State after a brief illness.
A statement by the 2nd Vice President of the Council, Hajiya Binta Suleman Ibrahim (FEAI, ARPA), said the deceased was in Kebbi state for an official assignment.
It reads "With profound sorrow, we regret to announce the passing of our beloved National President, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria. She departed this life in the late hours of June 4, 2024, after a brief illness at Kebbi State where she went for an official assignment.
"Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, a dedicated leader and champion of women's empowerment, will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
"Her tireless efforts and contributions to the betterment of our society will never be forgotten."
The statement disclosed that she will be laid to rest in her hometown in Lau, Taraba State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
"Further arrangements and details will be communicated in due course.
"We mourn the loss of our dear leader and mother. We pray that God grants us and her family the strength and grace to bear this irreparable loss.
"Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau who was born on the 8th of August 1962, was elected on the 31 of March 2022 as the 15th National President of the council and assumed office on the 1 of April 2022. She was age 62 years.
"She left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and motivate us all. May her soul rest in eternal peace." it stated
