FG Lifts Tai Solarin University of Education To Federal University

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially taken over Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), and elevated it to the status of a Federal University.

This move has positioned TASUED as one of the three dedicated Universities of Education in the country, which reinforced the government's commitment to advancing teacher education and human capital development.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, in a statement by Boriowo Folasade, Director, Press & Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the transition and for his unwavering dedication to educational development.

He praised the President’s visionary leadership in strengthening Nigeria’s education sector and ensuring sustainable progress.

Dr. Alausa also commended the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Dapo Abiodun, for his support and trust in the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance the nation’s academic landscape.

The statement added "Additionally, he acknowledged the Awujale of Ijebu-land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, for his steadfast backing of this historic transition, which will bring lasting benefits to the people."

The Federal Government’s decision to take over TASUED, it said, aligns with its strategic vision to bolster teacher education and equip the next generation of educators with the skills and resources needed to drive national development.
