The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education has clarified the allegation case against a teacher, Mr. Jatto Agholor George, at the Federal Government Girls' College (FGGC), Benin City.
After preliminary investigation, the Ministry said that the case was not of sexual harassment, but an issue of high-handedness in classroom management.
Stressing that the case was initially misrepresented, the Ministry urged the public to exercise patience until the final investigation is concluded on the matter.
A statement titled 'Clarification on Allegations Against FGGC Benin City Teacher: Official Investigation Nears Conclusion' and issued by Boriowo Folasade, Director, Press and Public Relations FME, reads "The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) is conducting an official investigation into allegations against Mr. Jatto, a teacher at Federal Government Girls' College (FGGC), Benin City.
"Following a thorough review, it has been established that the case in question is not one of sexual harassment but an issue of high-handedness in classroom management, which was initially misrepresented.
"Earlier on, an investigative panel set up by the school has already submitted its report. The Preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Jatto was on prep supervision duty at the time of the incident and was responding to a rowdy classroom situation.
"Meanwhile, the principal has been summoned to the Ministry Headquarters in Abuja for further clarification. Investigation is on going in respect of the allegations, the Ministry urges the public to exercise patience until the final investigation is concluded."
The final findings of the investigation, the Ministry assured, will be officially announced in due course.
"The Ministry remains committed to transparency and upholding the integrity of educational institutions across the country." it stated
