To win more laurels for Africa in the game of Chess at the global stage, the African Chess Confederation (ACC) has called for more participation of African women and girls at the forthcoming 6th edition of the Queens’ Online Chess Festival.
The 6th edition, which is a global celebration of women's chess and organised by the FIDE Commission for Women's Chess under the Chess4All FIDE WOM Project, will take place from March 1-29, 2026.
It is also dedicated to International Women's Day (March 8) celebration.
A notice by the confederation issued on the Nigeria Chess Federation platform reads "The African Chess Confederation (ACC) is pleased to encourage all member federations to actively mobilise and support the participation of their players in the 6th edition of the Queens’ Online Chess Festival, taking place from 1–29 March 2026.
"Organised by the FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess, this global festival is held in celebration of International Women’s Day and is a powerful platform for promoting and strengthening women’s and girls’ participation in chess.
"The event is free to enter and open to women and girls of all ages and playing levels, including unrated players from around the world.
"We urge federations to widely share this opportunity within your national structures, schools, academies, and clubs, and to actively encourage your female players to register and take part.
Disclosing the opportunities open to participants, it said "Players compete for continental titles. Winners receive training sessions with Women Grand masters. FIDE Shop vouchers and other prizes are on offer"
It said that the overall Women’s Open winner will earn an invitation to the 46th World Chess Olympiad 2026 in Uzbekistan
"This festival is not only a competition it is a celebration of talent, inclusion, and the continued growth of women’s chess globally and across Africa.
