The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Shehu Mohammed has strongly condemned the violent assault on one of its patrol team leaders, during a routine morning operation at ECWA Junction, Karu, on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
The incident occurred when a driver, identified as Abdulkadri Adamu, operating an overloaded Nissan Almera with registration number YAB 796 EQ, resisted lawful arrest and attacked the officer in the course of enforcement.
The reports indicated that the offender, after refusing to comply with traffic directives, violently engaged the patrol team leader, lifting and forcefully throwing him to the ground, resulting in serious injuries.

"The injured officer was immediately rushed to a medical facility in Karu where he received emergency treatment and has since regained consciousness.
"He is currently undergoing further medical evaluation and care for injuries sustained, including suspected fractures.
"Following swift intervention by members of the public, the offender was apprehended and handed over to the Police.
"He was subsequently arraigned in court, where he did not deny the charges brought against him. The presiding judge found him guilty and sentenced him to a two-week remand, which will elapse on 23 April 2026."
Reacting to the incident, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, expressed deep concern over the rising trend of attacks on personnel while on lawful duty.
He reaffirmed the Corps’ resolve to the safety and welfare of its officers and men, stressing that any act of aggression against FRSC personnel will be met with the full weight of the law.
The Corps Marshal further called on motorists to respect constituted authorities and cooperate with enforcement officers, emphasising that FRSC operatives are on the roads to save lives and ensure safer highways for all Nigerians.
He warned that the Corps will not tolerate any form of obstruction, assault, or violence against its personnel.
