Troops of the 81 Division Task Force Battalion under Operation Hadin Kai have foiled an attempted infiltration by Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, killing four insurgents and recovering weapons.
According to military sources, the incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday when troops deployed at Check Point 4, Alpha Company, sighted suspected ISWAP fighters crawling towards their defensive position from the Gulumba Gana axis.
The troops immediately opened fire, forcing the terrorists to withdraw.
Following the encounter, troops conducted an exploitation operation at about 6:00 a.m. and recovered:

The report said traces of blood were also observed along the terrorists’ withdrawal route, suggesting that additional insurgents may have sustained injuries.
There were no casualties on the side of the troops.
The soldiers returned to base at about 6:53 a.m. after completing the operation.
The military said the general security situation in the area remains “calm but highly unpredictable”, while troops’ morale and fighting efficiency are “satisfactory.”
Operation Hadin Kai continues to conduct patrols and defensive operations across Borno State to check ISWAP and Boko Haram movements in the Lake Chad region.
