International and local election observers have concluded a joint operational briefing ahead of the Osun Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, 15th August 2026.
The briefing held on Friday was led by International Observers under the Association of World Peace Advocates and Local Observers coordinated by the Civil Society Organizations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative, CSCHEI.
CSCHEI is the team lead coordinating and supervising 40 INEC-accredited Civil Society Organizations for election observation in the state.
At the meeting, clear directives were issued to all local observers to:
Strictly abide by the provisions of the Electoral Act in the discharge of their duties.
Refrain from reporting unverified information.
Work in close collaboration with security agencies for safety and security purposes.
Speaking at the briefing, Kunle Yusuff, Director General of CSCHEI, emphasized that all observers are on a national assignment and that “Nigeria's interest must be given paramount attention in the quest for democratic development.”
The Executive Director of the Association of World Peace Advocates, an INEC International Observer, stated that security arrangements for the election must be anchored on fairness, justice, and equity.
