The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), in fulfilment of its mandate to develop, promote and market Nigeria’s vast tourism potentials is set to endorse Igogo Festival.
The festival is an over 600 year old annual celebration in Owo, Ondo State.
The NTDA, according to a statement by the press unit, remains committed to supporting community-based cultural festivals that strengthen national identity and drive tourism growth while preserving the cultural heritage of festivals across Nigeria.
The festival is dedicated to honour Queen Oronsen through sacred rites, royal processions and community events standing as a prime example of Nigeria’s rich cultural assets.
Consistent with its focus on enhancing the visibility of such heritage events through publicity materials, social media promotion and advisory support, NTDA affirmed that this year’s Igogo Festival will not be an exception.
The 2026 edition, scheduled for 31 August to 26 September, will feature traditional ceremonies, cultural displays, games and pageants.
